Data Center Outage Information
9/19/2026
Dear Members,
We want to provide you with a transparent place to find information regarding the online/mobile banking outage experienced 9/16/26 to 9/19/26.
what happened?
The big question- what happened? The air failed at a data center utilized by our core technology provider causing the temperature to rise 25 degrees in a short time. The high temps caused equipment failure and the equipment failed faster than failover processes could complete. This resulted in hundreds of credit union losing connectivity to this provider and losing access to core systems, online banking, and regular debit card functionality.
what did not happen?
This was a service availability event caused by physical equipment failure, not a cybersecurity incident. There has been no data breach and no unauthorized access to our systems, our data or to your data. Member funds are secure and account records intact.
our commitment to you
We know this disruption made everyday banking difficult, and we’re truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this caused.
We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued trust in Eastern Indiana Federal Credit Union.
is my money safe?
Yes. Your accounts and funds remain safe. The outage affected ability to access banking online- not the security or existence of your accounts or funds.
